Writer, publisher, artist, composer and lyrics of popular songs, actor, director, producer and father of six children from his first marriage to Graciela Fernandez.
Son of bilingual secretary Elsa Aguilar Bolaños-Cacho and painter, cartoonist and illustrator Francisco Gómez Linares, Roberto was the second of three brothers (Francis and Horace were the other two). Before becoming an actor, was novice boxer; also earned a degree in architecture at UNAM, but never practiced.
On November 19, 2004 he married Florinda Meza (Doña Florinda who played in the Chavo del Ocho), after a long relationship. Gómez Bolaños married in the first instance with Graciela Fernández, who bore him six children.
He began his career as an advertising creative, which connected him with radio and television, which was, during the 1950s, an active writer. He also made several screenplays for the duo Chip and Capulina and briefly started acting with them in "Two Servants Malcriados" in 1960. However, he continued to devote most of his time to writing, contributing scripts dialogues movies and Mexican television.
His professional name, "Chespirito" is attributed to the film director Agustín P. Delgado, derived from the diminutive of the Peninsularized pronunciation of the name William Shakespeare, diminutive stature because Gómez Bolaños and the claim that talent Gómez Bolaños to write stories resembles that of Shakespeare.
Between 1960 and 1965, he wrote scripts for the two most watched programs on Mexican television: Comedians and songs as well as the study of Pedro Vargas, the Mexican Telesistema chain.

In 1980, his sketches were reunited on a weekly hour program called under his pseudonym, and remained on the air until 1995.
Apart from getting all TV hits, Chespirito also starred in films such as Charrito Mexican, Don mouse and gift Shoplifter, Wind Music, The Chanfle and The Chanfle 2.
