It will be between 3 and 12 November to improve the environmental situation during the course of the meeting of the Forum for Economic Cooperation Asia-Pacific
Beijing is committed to controlling the flow of traffic, including prohibiting the circulation of certain government vehicles in an effort to improve air quality during the Economic Leaders Meeting of the Forum for Economic Cooperation Asia-Pacific (APEC).
According to the Municipal Department of Environmental Protection Beijing, from Monday 70 percent of the vehicles of the municipal government, around 19,000 units, restrictions will stop circulating.
Between 3 and 12 November, the policy of allowing cars circulate in turn according to their license plate numbers will be adopted, depending on odd or even numbers, including those from outside Beijing. Depending on enrollment, the cars may move only on alternate days during this period.
Beijing has already implemented a similar restriction, based on the number plate, during the Olympic Games in 2008, which helped to reduce by 45 percent the number of vehicles in circulation and cleanse the air.
