The 79-year-old, who has been FIFA chief since 1998, won a total of 133 votes against 73 from Prince Ali of Jordan, his only rival

Blatter was re-elected for the fifth time as the FIFA president here on Friday.

The 79-year-old, who has been FIFA chief since 1998, won a total of 133 votes against 73 from Prince Ali of Jordan, his only rival.

Without winning a two-thirds majority, the vote went a second round but Prince Ali withdrew from the race to give Blatter the victory.

Blatter has been under fire after a total of 14 people were indicted, with seven senior football officials arrested in dawn raids at a Zurich hotel just two days before the election.

Blatter resisted calls to step down and vowed to stay in the position to "fix things".
