Today Argentina's foreign policy forum where the main economic issues are trying to Argentina and MERCOSUR countries is Asia Cooperation Forum in Latin America and East Asia
During the last celebration of the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) talked to specialists in international politics, Ezequiel Ramoneda and Rubiolo Florence, who help us to understand basic aspects of the topic:
ABC: Argentina can form a free trade area in the Asia?
FR: We must keep in mind that Argentina is part of MERCOSUR and in the case of forming a free trade area in a negotiation should be 4 +1 means that all members of MERCOSUR must agree to negotiate a free trade agreement with a third state or region. From this point of view must face a intraMERCOSUR negotiation, once this is resolved, and the member states agree, you can face an interregional trading.
ER: Today Argentina's foreign policy forum where the main economic issues are trying to Argentina and MERCOSUR countries is Asia Cooperation Forum in Latin America and East Asia (FOCALAE), soon between 19 and August 22 will have its meeting in Thailand, where there is a working group on economic ties, chaired by Argentina, which are considering emerging issues of an approach or not.
ABC: What are your views on the emergence of South-South relations which run in a way, traditional agents such as the European Union and the United States?
FR: A process that has been increasing since the early 90's in which Argentina is playing an increasingly strong role. Is looking for an alternative to diversify trade and political partners as a way to have more leeway and greater voice internationally. Definitely Southeast Asia is one of the potential major partners in this sense as an alternative to traditional partners.
ER: I would say that Argentina must keep this in mind because the main debates and agreements that are taking place in the Asia Pacific. What is the US-led Trans-regional cooperation and led by China are leaving virtually outside the MERCOSUR countries that do not give into the shores of the Pacific. It is important to present South-South relations. Relations with Southeast Asian countries, with the ratio of trade between these countries is Argentina and surplus complement our trade balance; especially China which explains the visit of the President in recent years (to that country) and the importance of the forum now FOCALAE
ABC: Seen the Russian decision to block exports from the European Union and the United States for a period of one year What chance for Argentina to occupy this space?
FR: As potential, Argentina would have a great potential to participate in what is foreign trade, especially with Russia, given that the Russian invitation to participate in the BRICS went to Argentina. The question is what is the actual ability of Argentina to produce enough to export to a market such as Russia? A very good chance that there is a question of whether Argentina can meet this demand or not is presented. Perhaps the answer is to meet this demand at the regional level through the MERCOSUR.
The Bachelor Ramoneda, the specialist on Southeast Asian issues most important in the region, tried to make a division of economics and policy analysis to point first. The first coincided with Dr.. Rubiolo-more if one can approach both Russia and the countries of Southeast Asia and understand the region as a whole, he said. But he warned the political aspect taking into account the developments that are taking place in Ukraine and the Russian approach to China, given China's stance on the South Seas is a rather prickly issue at the political level, that can break a little break. Position would approach one another in a way. Though recommended closing the proposition commercially feasible we would not be neglected politically.
