The beauty retailer Sephora is using augmented reality to allow customers to test their cosmetics without applying on their face. Sephora has launched this experience in one of its stores in Milan and has used technology to offer a mirror ModiFace augmented reality 3D recreates how they will be paints and stains without the client having to be painted.
Its operation is very simple, you just have to stand before the mirror and a camera is detecting the position. On screen, a zoom palette for eyeshadows and one selected to be on display in the mirror, virtually, as would in the face of the person you are looking at will be displayed.
The mirror is designed with a LCD display that incorporates a high definition camera that is capturing the image. ModiFace technology is responsible for tracking the face and record the location of facial features.
