President-elect of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko provide officially sworn in June 7

The U.S. president, Barack Obama, met with President-elect of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, in Warsaw, capital of Poland. This is Obama’s first meeting with Poroshenko, who was elected president of Ukraine in the elections of May 25 and officially given oath on June 7.

The U.S. president said he discussed with Poroshenko a plan to restore peace and economic growth in Ukraine. The presidents also discussed ways to reduce Ukraine's energy dependence on Russia. Poroshenko said "I want to thank the president for supporting our initiative to reform the energy sector". He also said that the "future cooperation in the fight against corruption," I have a "crucial importance".

Before the meeting with Obama, Poroshenko spoke with U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry.
