Economic integration will bring mutual benefits and positive results for the Chinese mainland and Taiwan should not be disturbed, said China's top leader, Xi Jinping.
Xi, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made the remarks during his meeting with President of the People First Party (PFP) in Taiwan, James CY Soong, held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
"Based on the concept that both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to one family, there is no difficulty that can not always defeat when each party and worry about the other and sincerely concerned," said Xi.
"We want to learn more about the practical needs of the people of Taiwan, especially those of ordinary citizens, and take proactive and effective in caring for the vulnerable groups," he added.
Xi said the policy to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations will not change, nor will vary pragmatic measures to stimulate trade, cooperation and mutual benefits.
"There will decline our sincere enthusiasm of Taiwan compatriots unite with joint efforts, and is unwavering in our determination to stop the 'Taiwan independence'," added Xi.
