"McDonald's will close across the country, then we will deal with Coca-Cola," said a Russian deputy
The leader of Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky, has proposed closing all fast food chain restaurants McDonald's across the country.
"McDonald's has closed its restaurants in Crimea, that's fine.We will close them across the country (...) and then we will deal with Coca-Cola," said deputy quoted by Russian news agency Ria Novosti.
The subsidiary of the U.S. company in Ukraine announced yesterday that it was suspending activities in their establishments in Crimea due to "manufacturing reasons" outside the company, as reported in a statement.
The company ceased operations in establishments in the cities of Simferopol, Sevastopol and Yalta, but expects to be able to resume at the next opportunity.
McDonald's assured that its first priority is to take care of their employees, so offered to all employees of these restaurants the opportunity to join other chain establishments in Ukraine.
The measure of the U.S. company agrees with the accession of Crimea to Russian Federation, following a referendum, where most of the population of the peninsula, which is Russian origin, voted for the separation of Ukraine.
