Russia's permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, supposedly jokingly recommended to U.S. Senator John McCain "monitor Alaska", remembering that once was part of Russia

The order on the reintegration of Alaska in Russia, published on the website of the White House, has already received more than 30,000 signatures.

For the petition to be formally taken into account by the U.S. administration, the document, which is published on the web since 21 March, needs to be signed by 100,000 people by April 20.

The document notes that the Siberian tribes first came to Alaska about 10,000 to 16,000 years ago by the isthmus where the Bering Strait subsequently formed.

Petition also emphasizes that the first Europeans to set foot on the Alaska August 21, 1732 were members of the crew of the Russian ship San Gabriel. Thus, the document proposes leaving vote U.S. Alaska and their return to Russia.
