The i-Road offers a completely new driving experience as it combines the convenience of a motorcycle with the comfort and stability of a car

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced the start of the test phase of its consumer personal mobility vehicle "i-Road" in Tokyo. From 24 March to early June, a series of tests are performed to evaluate the effectiveness of electric vehicles in everyday situations in urban areas.

The i-Road offers a completely new driving experience as it combines the convenience of a motorcycle with the comfort and stability of a car. The i-Road to be used in tests in Tokyo is based on the model presented as a concept at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show in November, but is now available in five colors and has improved visibility, usability and maneuverability.

For testing, ten vehicles Toyota delivered to a group of about twenty participants comprising members of the general public and experts and industry trends. Once the trial period is complete, the consumer opinion will be collected with respect to various areas such as driving feel, user satisfaction, ease of use in urban areas and impact the type of vehicle in the choice of destination.

Beyond the evidence in Tokyo, i-Road has been tested on public roads in Toyota City since early March as part of "Ha: Mo" * 1, the system of urban traffic Toyota created to explore the possibility of developing a low-carbon society in which mobility is driven by technology. Toyota will continue testing with ultra-compact electric vehicle to optimize short trips in urban areas.
